Extreme Home Makeover In My Town!

EXTREME HOME MAKE OVER
IN MY TOWN

That's right, ABC's show Extreme Home Makeover is in my town of Logan, Utah. They are building a house for a family whose father was killed. He was a professor here at our school. Tonight I walked by the site and snapped a few exclusive pics. Why doesn't eveyone take a look.

As much as I think reality TV is a waste of time and has little to no redeeming value. Extreme Home Makeover is actually the exception to the rule. They help people that really need it. It's really a great thing that they do. And it's great that it's all happening here in this small town.

What does everyone think of the show?

Okay, here is what I have to say about this show. I do watch it regularly and think they do a great service for many who need homes, but (and everyone knew this "but" was coming.

Last week's episode, the original house wasn't in bad shape from what I could see. The kid in the wheelchair had outgrown it.

So my point to my husband, couldn't they have taken that house and land and found someone else in the same area who was in need of a home. Given those others in need of a new home the "outgrown" house and then demolished the other home and built a new one from that.

I just get upset that some of these houses they destroy could get someone else off the street or out of another deplorable living situation and into a better home. Kind of a two for one deal.

TF: I think you'd really really like to know that the house here they picked up and put it on a truck and gave it to Habitat for Humanities. So, maybe they've realized the error of their ways, so to speak.

Thanks for commenting on this one. I was beginning to think no one cared about this post, lol.

Also TF Thanks for coming by the site here. It's always wonderful to see new people. Please keep on coming by.

Have any other shows you watch religiously?

I love this show. I cry every week. Yes the designers can be annoyingly stupid and Ty is a bit too hyperactive at times. But they are helping people in such a remarkable way. That's beautiful. Too many negative things floating around in our world. Nice to have a real show reaching out to real people.

I'm glad to hear they did that! I think they should mention it on the show and do a snippet with the new homeowner getting the home in follow-ups down the road. That would be cool!

As for other shows - www.crimedramatv.com is my blog and I talk about a lot of them over there.

melisa: Yea I totally agree. Ty is annoying, but really he's just a face for the show. It's really cool what they do for families and it gives you that nice warm fuzzy feeling when you see the end result.

TF: AH! You're the crimeTV blogger from 451 Press. Yep I've been leaving comments on your site. Well, you could still talk about Lost over here seeing that it's not Crime TV. But, thank you for coming over. I really like your blog. I read anything about TV. Even though I'm not a huge Crime TV fan, I still just like to read about TV.

You're always welcome to discuss Lost with the rest of us though

i agree... reality tv has no redeeming value, unless you're talking about the bachelor... now that's just good television.
