Sneak Peek--'Knights of Prosperity'

October 14th 2006 19:59
I don't feel right having my only post today being about gross Screech and his far worse sex tape...ok lets just stop mentioning it.

Anyway, I actually write the TV reviews for my College's newspaper (Utah State University). And I wanted to share a as yet unpublished article with everyone, that I've written about the new ABC comedy 'Knights of Prosperity.'

‘Knights of Prosperity’ Prospers
Consider yourselves lucky, you are getting the sneak-peek of sneak-peeks. The new ABC comedy ‘Knights of Prosperity’ was slated to premiere Oct. 17, but has now been moved to a mid-season premiere in January. This move will distance it from the frenzy of the Fall premiere schedule, to give it a little bit more breathing room.

Stephen McPherson of ABC Entertainment told the L.A. Times, "We feel it's so good, it deserves to have a strong launch."

I have seen the pilot episode already, and the question is, “is Stephen McPherson right?” While ‘Knights of Prosperity’ is not the funniest show I’ve ever seen, it has potential. And in this fall season where serial-dramas rule supreme, ‘Knights’ is a breath of fresh air.

The premise of ‘Knights’ alone, makes it worth checking out. A group of down-and-out guys, form a criminal band, they name it “The Knights of Prosperity,” and come up with a plan to rob none other than Mick Jagger. Anyone who wants to steal from Mr. Jagger is a friend of mine.

The criminal band of miscreants is led by janitor Eugene Gurkin (Donal Logue, “Grounded For Life”). Who is the one who actually comes up with the master plan of robbing the front-man for the ‘Stones.’ Other members of the gang include a taxi driver Gourishankar `Gary' Subramaniam (Maz Jabroni, “E-Ring”), a local night-club bouncer Rockefeller Butts (Kevin Michael Richarson, “Clerks 2”), and a attractive Hispanic waitress Esperanza Villalobos (Sofia Vergara, “Big Trouble).

‘Knights,’ has a great cast, and the characters they play are so off the wall they’re funny. There are actually a few cameos from Mick Jagger on the pilot episode, of him showing off his new house in a sort of MTV “Cribs” way.

With the number of new sitcoms this year completely dwarfed by the number of new dramas, there isn’t a big selection of new comedies to chose from. ‘Knights of Prosperity,’ definitely deserves to be found by an audience, and have a good run. Whether fiction or not I just want to see someone rob Mick Jagger.

The ‘Knights of Prosperity’ premiere has been moved from Oct. 17 to January of next year, so I don’t have a specific time for it. But, keep your eyes open for it early next year.

I'll keep an eye out for this one. It sorts of reminds me of a British show about a group of thieves. They were "Ocean's Eleven" sort of cool, but a lot of the scenes and dialogue was just hilarious. I can't remember the name of the show, so, never mind.

Adele: Accept in Hustle they're pretty smooth criminals. These guys in this show are like a bunch of idiots. It's pretty funny.

Melisa: Thanks for stopping by again. Yeah Donal Logue is a pretty funny guy, although 'Grounded for Life' wasn't funny at all. But, that was the writer's faults not his.

So If I had only 2 hours a week to watch TV shows should I waste a half hour on this one or would recommend others before it. What are your top 4 TV shows playing right now

Anonymous: That's a really good question. Lets see my for top shows playing right now are:

1. Lost.
2. The Office.
3. Prison Break.
4. Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.

Now all of those but 'The Office' are actually HOUR long shows. But, all of them are very, very worth it. But, if you were looking to pack a ton of quality programming into 2 hours I would have you go with this list:

1. Lost (1hour)
2. The Office (30 min)
3. My Name Is Earl (30 min)

I know 'My Name Is Earl' wasn't in my top 4, but if you're looking to fill only 2 hours that's your best bet. 'The Office' and 'My Name Is Earl' are the two funniest shows on TV right now.

Hope that helps. And I hope to catch your name too.
