The 9'er: Top 9 TV Cartoon Characters

The 9’er: Top 9 TV cartoon characters

9. Doug—Back in the day Doug was featured on Nickelodeon. A fun little
Doug
Doug
cartoon about a teenager with a vivid imagination. The show taught us lessons as Doug learned. My favorite thing his imagination came up with was Quailman (who wore his underwear on the outside of his pants.

8. Michelangelo—The wise cracking, party-loving ninja turtle. As far as I know there was never a cartoon based on the artist himself. Michelangelo was by
Michelangelo
Michelangelo
far the most quoted turtle of them all. With words like “Cowabunga,” and “Radical.” Mikey also carried the ever dangerous nun-chucks.

7. Wile E. Coyote—Poor little coyote. He was just never able to catch that dang road runner. But he was persistent. Even after being squashed, throw over
Wile E. Coyote

cliffs, blown up, and smashed into the sides of cliffs, Wile E. never gave up. He will be chasing that bird for eternity. Always coming ever so close, until something goes wrong with his stupid ACME gear. He really should think of abandoning his product loyalty.

6. Bart Simpson—Eat my Shorts! While controversial, Bart Simpson definitely deserves to be on this list. The early episodes of The Simpsons were built

around Bart. He was the show. Now Bart has taken a back seat to his father Homer, but he’s still in the forefront of cartoon-dom.

5. Spongebob Square Pants—Spongebob is a favorite between children and pot smokers alike. Children watch it for the bright colors, almost incoherent
Spongebob

storylines, and lots of laughing. Pot smokers watch it for the same exact reasons. Last year Spongebob had his own movie, which had one of the biggest stars in the world (HAHA) David Hasselhoff. Being a sponge, Spongebob is asexual and therefore appeals to boys and girls. He is the essence of inclusion.

4. Bugs Bunny—One of the most famous TV cartoons ever. Bugs Bunny could almost be considered the grandfather of TV cartoons. Although, not my
Bugs Bunny
Bugs Bunny
personal favorite (I like Wyle E. Coyote better) in sheer fact of being recognized Bugs has that won hands down. Everyone who has ever watched a cartoon knows who he is. Which is why he deserves number 4.

Now the top three may not be on your list at all, I don’t know. I picked them, because I adore them. That’s it. No more, no less.

3. Bender—Real name: Bender Bending Rodriguez (assembled in Tiajuana). Bender from Futurama cracks me up every time he talks. There was one
Bender
Bender
episode of Futurama where Bender was shot out of a torpedo tube. A space meteorite struck him and a colony started growing on him, of tiny little people. It was great. Bender was God. In the end he pretty much destroyed his own civilization by negligence. I also love the idea that he has to drink to stay sober.

2. Stewie Griffin—In the beginning of Family Guy Stewie was bent on world domination. Now, he’s just turned gay. But, no matter what Stewie does I can’t
Stewie
Stewie Griffin
help but love him. His accent. His way of speaking. I love how he’s so smart he can create a ship that shrinks down and goes inside Peter’s body, yet he falls for the whole Peek-a-Boo game and thinks once Peter puts his hands in front of his face, he’s disappeared. I get a kick out of Stewie.

1. Homer Simpson—The man himself. Homer has come a long way since the first episodes of The Simpsons. As a bumbling idiot, Homer has a heck of a
Homer

resume. He has done more things than anyone on The Simpsons combined. Homer in my opinion is the most hilarious, most wonderful cartoon character ever.

Please, if you would like to add some more to the list go right ahead. Just explain why.

I'm a big fan of Futurama, so many of my favourites come from there. I absolutely love Bender for the same reasons as you do. I love Fry because of the wonderful journey he is on, and even though he is dimwitted he can save the world. I love Leela because she is capable and can kick butt. I love Zapp Brannigan because he is such an idiot and has the best lines. The only character I really despise on the show is Dr Zoidberg, but even he has his moments.

I also forgot Sideshow Bob. He has to be one of the best cartoon villains ever. He's just so pompous and full of himself and his abilities, yet totally crazy.

PS - I'd like to hear your thoughts on my latest entry on theme music

Nina: I was thinking about Sideshow Bob, but then I thought that I'd do the top 9 Simpsons guest appearances. That would be pretty cool I think.

I'll swing by your site to see what your latest entry is about.

I wouldnt disagree with any of them, apart from Doug...

ChrisB: I tried to stay away from Disney characters because they're mostly movie. Ren and Stimpy always grossed me out as a kid. I never liked it.

I totally agree with you on Homer. He's the most amazing idiot ever!

Him and Peter Griffin anyway.

Anonymous#2 Wow all the unknown people are here today.

I too would like to see Homer and Peter Griffin in a face off of stupidity and see who comes out on top (or bottom).

Anonymous#3: It's wonderful to see my MSN Spaces friends here. But, sadly my MSN Spaces might be a thing of the past. I'm realizing blogging can be more than just writing to pass the time. I could actually earn some cash money. So i'm pouring all my time into this.

You're welcome for the walk down memory lane. I did try to do that.

Aaron, fair point about disney characters - but i do recall seeing early, early, early shorts with donald duck which was quite funny.

OK, another suggestion - what about Eric Cartman, he's so evil and funny. South Park has to be onw of the greatest cartoons everto exist - surely Cartman has to be somewhere in the top 9.

ChrisB: Hmmm you do bring up a very good point. Cartman should be in there. Things really do slip your mind when making lists.

I'll make that up some way. Promise.

Aaron Aaron Aaron I love your list but knowing your diabolical side I would say Space Invader Zim would be a good match for you. it might not be good enough for top nine but as a good insight into who you really are aaron space invader zim pops to mind. Yeah anyone who is hell bent on destruction and often goes over board on his crazy world destroying schemes. as If it were possible to over kill a planet Zim would do it.

THE all- time funniest cartoon character?? Srewy Squirrel! Look this guy up, if he's too old school for you. There is one cartoon that is a takeoff on Of Mice and Men. Years after I saw the cartoon as a child I read Of Mice and Men and I went" Hey that's where they got the cartoon." I still quote from that cartoon.
I would say early Woody Woodpecker, when he still had crossed eyes, is worth consideration. I recommend "The Screw Driver."
