In what has been a dramatic few months of television a huge amount of shows are being constantly thrown around by networks and then some are completely disappearing without a trace.
New crime drama The Mentalist is the most recent with it only being in its new timeslot on Wednesday for about two weeks beforing vanishing. The Mentalist initially aired on Sunday nights and was met with mixed success. Due to the fact that it had not developed a huge fan base they shipped it over to Wednesdays, now next week we are being treated to a mid week movie. What is going on channel Nine.
While discussing Nine the Wednesday timeslot once occupied by The Mentalist was before that the home of the new JJ Abrams hit Fringe which has also much like the shows mysterious themes, dissappeared from the airwaves.
But dont get me wrong Channel Nine are not the the only offenders. The Ten Network are also guilty relegating the new teen drama 90210 off the air and promise it will be back in summer.
Television networks really have to start getting their act together and be faithfull to shows and fans. It is getting increasingly difficult for anyone today to start watching new programs because if they dont rate well in the first few weeks they will vanish and in most cases they pop up out of no where in some obscure hour of the night and most times when you discover it you will have probably missed half a dozen episodes.
Fan bases develop over time, you need to let audiences grow. Wake up to your selves television executives.
