Now what about Futurama.
Futurama is a Emmy award winning carton sitcom created by Matt Groening. Who is also responsible for the all time classic cartoon, The Simpsons.
The series followed the life of Phillip J. Fry and his experiences in the future. This occurred when he was accidently cryogenically frozen, and awakens 1000 years later in the year 3000.
The half hour sitcom followed his adventures and his workmates at the delivery company Planet Express. Who travel from planet to planet all through the galaxy in order to deliver various goods.
The series aired in 1999 and was cancelled in 2003 after the completion of the fourth series.
This was met with a huge backlash, due to the continuously high ratings the show received. The show was not really left on a cliff hanger, but fans were still left with countless questions about the future of the show.
The cancellation was also a huge surprise due to the fact it was created by Matt Groening. Who as mentioned earlier is the creator of The Simpsons. The Simpsons has been running for 20 seasons and even thought a lot of the story lines are now being drawn out and fans are slowly losing interest, it is still being made due to the unparalleled support of the fans. Therefore fans were under the impression that this series would last for a considerable amount of time.
In 2007 the series was finally renewed because of mass outrage from fans. It is being released initially as four straight to DVD movies. Then later being released as a 16 part fifth season.
Evidently this ever popular show was halted way before its time. Thankfully fans of this hilarious future world will be able to laugh it up with Fry, Leela, Bender and Zoidberg for a little while longer.
