Why End It Now?

It happens all too often, shows being cancelled before their time. Countless shows over the years have been ended instantly to the surprise of both the cast and fans alike. In a lot of cases these shows are cancelled without any notice and more often than not are left with many unanswered questions.
Too many shows have been halted at vital moments in their story and this has causes outcry among diehard fans. Some of the most successful shows of our time were stopped without any notice.
Sci-fi fans were heart broken when Crichton and Aeryn finally decided to get married at the end of Farscape season 4 but were left utterly speechless when they were attacked upon by a starship which left them frozen in time. Fans were left completely in the dark and only by their un-relentless support on forums were they offered a TV movie to finish up the un-finished plot.
Veronica Mars was another early casualty to the television graveyard. At the end of season 3 Veronica was finally growing up as a detective and on her way to a lucrative career in the FBI. Fans were riveted by this prospect and had their hopes crushed to find out that the show would not be renewed.
The OC was also killed off way too early. Even though they were able to wrap up their story in the final season, this ever popular teen drama was hurriedly finished in a way that was obviously not envisioned by the series creators.
These plus many more prematurely cancelled TV shows will be talked about in my new blog series, titled ‘Why end it now?’
The reason why I am writing this blog is to question why some of the most popular shows in television history have been cancelled. Especially the ones you couldn’t even see coming.
